Screens for quality sleep
With K-system insect screens, you can sleep with the window open.
Insect screens for allergy sufferers
Due to the increasing number of allergy sufferers, the need to ensure air quality and ventilation in homes is rising. Not everyone has the option to install an air purifier with a HEPA filter, which continuously filters and cleans the air indoors, nor is everyone willing to give up natural ventilation. Under typical air conditions (certainly not in extreme humidity), a HEPA filter can capture up to 99.5% of all particles as small as 0.3 µm. However, using an air purifier also increases electricity costs, which is not the most eco-friendly solution. K-system offers insect screens for windows and doors with a tensioned mesh that not only handles insects but also pollen.
- Poll-tex® mesh – a unique patented pollen-resistant insect mesh that is permanently electrostatically charged. It has high air permeability and offers a perfect view. It allows hay fever sufferers to enjoy a spring or summer night with an open window. The only medically certified pollen-resistant mesh in the European Centre for Allergy Research ECARF. The mesh has been tested for the permeability of pollen grains from grass, ragweed, birch, and nettles. The result showed a protective effect of 96%, and for grass pollen, even 100%.
- RESPILON® nanofiber membrane – captures smog, mold, plant spores, rain, bacteria, sea salt, pollen, dust mites, insects, dust, aerosols, particles visible to the human eye, and exhaust gases. With this membrane, one must account for significantly reduced air exchange and a considerably higher price.
No insect netting or HEPA filter offers 100% effectiveness. During the pollen season, the netting should be cleaned regularly by rinsing with water or vacuuming. Unlike the netting, an air filter needs to be replaced at least once a year.
Insect screens for low-energy and passive houses
In a passive house, controlled ventilation and heat recovery are essential for heat recovery. Thanks to the glazing, the house uses weak sunlight in the cold period to gain heat. Therefore, it is desirable that insect screens do not block sunlight. K-system offers insect screens for windows and doors with BetterVue® and UltraVue® mesh. Both types of meshes provide high optical clarity for an unobstructed view and improve light transmittance in windows with low-E glass. They are made from UV-stable polyester fiber and treated with Water Shed TechnologyTM. This surface treatment ensures that water and dirt do not remain in the holes of the screen after rain. The UltraVue mesh, with a light transmittance of up to 73%, also provides the highest comfort for air exchange during ventilation.
Insect screens with the highest strength on the market
If you have a pet at home, you should definitely consider an insect screen that is resistant to damage by domestic animals. The Tuffscreen® Heavy-Duty Mesh Screen is designed for those who need a stronger and more durable insect screen. Tuffscreen® mesh is made from polyester fibers coated with a vinyl layer and is the toughest mesh available on the market. It significantly helps prevent overheating of the interior, as its light permeability is 45%. Similar to the Termoscreen mesh, it reflects sunlight outside. This mesh is three times stronger than standard fiberglass mesh. Not only does it resist pet claws, but it also offers significantly better visibility compared to its predecessor, Petscreen mesh.
Overview of K-system mesh features
A high-quality insect screen has a durable and tightly woven mesh that ensures long-lasting durability and resistance to damage. Additionally, it should be made from materials that are weather-resistant. An important indicator is also its ability to provide good light permeability and maintain a clear view.
