Description

At the end of 2016, K-system became the first manufacturer in Slovakia and the Czech Republic to add solar-powered outdoor blinds to its product range. This move responds to the growing consumer demand for products that utilize alternative energy sources.

Although electric drives remain the primary method for controlling outdoor blinds, there are times when a customer needs to use an alternative energy source. The lack of electrical wiring on a canopy or in the attic doesn’t have to be an obstacle for shading, which provides the necessary comfort.

The set for the solar-powered blind includes:

  • JA 10 Soft DC motor, 12 V with a force of 10 Nm and 26 rpm, suitable for an area of 18 m², or JA 4 Soft DC, 12 V with a force of 4 Nm and 33 rpm, suitable for an area of 6 m², featuring a silent brake based on magnetic hysteresis
  • Combio 868 JA DC, 12 V DC radio receiver, capable of handling up to 16 channels
  • Solar module with a pleasant design
  • Replaceable battery with a capacity of 2300mAh
  • Connecting plug cable
  • Original solar panel holders, allowing the panel to be tilted for optimal sun exposure.

This fully automatic, wirelessly controlled outdoor blind is powered by solar energy and operates on the principle of converting sunlight into electrical energy, based on the photovoltaic effect. The original technology ensures that the drive only consumes energy when it truly needs it. The solar panel charges the battery, which powers the electric drive of the blind, even under low light conditions. Therefore, the blinds can be tilted, raised, and lowered even in conditions of lower light intensity and during the winter months. The solar panel can be mounted on the facade or directly on the cover box of the blind.

Based on our extensive experience with the sale of solar-powered roller blinds, we recommend using solar-powered blinds primarily on the sun-facing side, where there is a sufficient amount of sunlight.

10 reasons why you should choose solar-powered blinds:

  1. Flexibility – Motorized blinds can be installed even in locations without electrical power supply.
  2. Cost Reduction – The blinds do not require an electrical power supply.
  3. Simplicity – Easy operation using a remote control with the option to save favorite intermediate positions.
  4. Efficiency – An environmentally friendly and energy-efficient solution for controlling blinds.
  5. Longevity – The drive is connected to a long-lasting battery that works in all weather conditions.
  6. Reliability – The automatic mode ensures the blind always reaches the desired position.
  7. Safety – The ability to simulate occupancy of the building even during the user's absence.
  8. Central Control – Multiple drives can be connected to a single transmitter for simultaneous control of the blinds.
  9. Comfort Control – The option to use radio control with various controllers, such as timers, light sensors, or wind safety sensors.
  10. Quiet Operation – The blinds operate quietly.

Technical data

The Prominent exterior blinds with Z-90 slats are blinds with minimal plastic parts. This design system is sourced from one of the largest Swiss manufacturers. The aluminum slats of these blinds are shaped like the letter Z, allowing the slats to overlap, resulting in perfect shading. The slats can be tilted in one direction only. The ladder is attached with a stainless steel connector.

This attachment method does not allow for uniform stacking of the ladder, but it significantly extends the lifespan of the blind. It does not have a major impact on the size of the folded slat bundle! The slat has a polyamide (PAD) seal pressed into the bottom, which helps reduce noise caused by the slats rubbing against each other. The slats are alternately finished with plastic or zinc pins on the sides, which ensure precise and quiet guidance of the slats within the guiding tracks.

The guidance of the slats in the side guiding tracks is also soundproofed with PAD seals pressed into both sides of the track. The 8 mm wide pull-up tape and the ladders are made from UV-resistant textiles, available in either black or gray.

An important part of the price for motorized blinds includes the motors and control accessories. In the case of solar-powered exterior blinds, the price is increased by the so-called solar kit. The solar kit includes: the solar drive, remote control receiver, solar panel, adjustable solar mounts, battery, and cables to connect the solar panel and battery. The intelligent seven-stage charger with overcharge protection is used when the solar panel's battery needs to be recharged. Since the Combio 868 DC receiver from the solar kit uses one-way communication, it is currently not possible to connect a wind sensor to the solar kit. The blinds can only be controlled using the VarioTel remote control with one-way communication.

The covering sheets of K-system blinds are made from a sheet alloy of aluminum and magnesium (3%). The magnesium addition gives the sheet higher hardness and strength. Even at a thickness of 1.5 mm, this sheet achieves greater strength than the previously used 2.0 mm thick aluminum sheets. The mechanical properties of this sheet are better, as are its properties for machining and anodizing. The sheet is used in the engineering industry, for deep-drawn parts, yacht construction, and in environments with elevated working temperatures. This type of sheet has excellent properties for any surface treatments, outstanding corrosion resistance, and remains dimensionally stable even after processing. We always recommend surface treatment for the covering sheets as aluminum is prone to oxidation. In the case of using raw, untreated sheets, the oxidized layer may start to drip over time due to humidity, creating streaks on the facade. This issue is irreversible!

The anchoring material and its quality are just as important when it comes to exterior blinds. During installation, we exclusively use certified fastening and anchoring materials, ensuring a secure attachment. The supporting "U" (L) brackets with a special cross-sectional shape, which we use during installation, are made from high-quality AlMgSi alloy, providing them with high dimensional stability and the necessary strength.

Maintenance

Remove any obstacles from the path of the blinds that could prevent them from lowering or raising. Depending on the selected control method, the exterior blinds are lowered and raised using a crank placed on the window frame by rotating it left or right. In the case of motorized blinds, this is done via a remote control or a wall switch. The end positions of the blinds are set by a stop inside the blind. All moving parts are self-lubricating. Do not use any grease lubricants! The durability of the Prominent blinds has been tested for wind speeds up to 80 km/h (22.2 m/s). In higher wind speeds, raise the blinds to the top position. Motorized blinds equipped with a wind sensor will automatically raise to the top position. Damage to the blinds caused by natural disasters is not covered by the warranty. A slight tilt in the movement of the blinds within a tolerance of ± 20mm on Prominent exterior blinds is not considered a defect. Dust and coarse dirt from the slats can be removed using water with added detergent.

Under no circumstances should you treat exterior blinds with a wire brush or similar methods, as this could scratch the top protective layer and damage the blinds.

During the winter season, it is not recommended to raise exterior blinds. The reason is the potential freezing of the bottom profile to the window sill, which could lead to fabric tears or other damage to the blinds. Therefore, in your own interest, check whether the blinds are frozen or loaded with snow. Damage caused by freezing or overloading with frozen snow is not covered by the warranty. In the winter season, it is recommended to disable automatic systems, with the exception of safety systems, such as those connected to a wind sensor.

If the blinds have stopped moving and are connected to an intelligent control system or smart control units, you need to contact the supplier of the system and installation. Since the blinds operate based on instructions from transmitters, it is essential to first rule out errors in the installation and control units. Also, check the batteries in your controllers. Failure to follow the user manual for the controller may result in changes to the original settings. This type of malfunction is not covered by the warranty.

Replacement controllers for ELERO can be purchased from the online store www.kzaluzie.sk. You will also find all the necessary manuals for motors and controllers there.

  • The warranty covers manufacturing defects and material defects that prevent the product from functioning properly.
  • The manufacturer assumes no responsibility for consequential damages or liability for the product beyond Slovak law.
  • If a defect is visible upon unpacking the product, do not install it or have it installed, and promptly file a complaint with your supplier.
  • The warranty does not cover the loss of original color in invisible areas, discoloration, or fading caused by sunlight, condensation, acid rain, salt droplets, or any conditions resulting in corrosion or material change, as well as natural color variations in fabric, aluminum, and wood decor. It also does not cover minor imperfections that do not significantly affect the appearance.
  • The warranty does not cover any imperfections from the customer's perspective that are caused by adherence to the manufacturing process and applicable standards. For custom products, certain limitations during handling must be expected, and these limitations cannot be the subject of a complaint.
  • The manufacturer's warranty also does not cover defects or damages that are a direct or indirect result of:

a)    Incorrect installation (the warranty is covered by the installation company)
b)    Improper use and failure to follow the operating and maintenance instructions
c)    Use of inappropriate spare parts, accessories, or power sources (e.g., electrical power supply)
d)    Transport or any other form of handling
e)    Interference with the mechanism or modification of the product
f)     Natural disasters, inadequate ventilation, and high humidity.

The manufacturer is not responsible for any breakage of the windowpane glass due to thermal stress. On construction sites, it is necessary to adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Do not partially close interior and exterior shading elements. Partial shading increases the risk of thermal breakage of the glass (does not apply to tempered ESG glass), which can be eliminated by keeping the shading device at least 6 cm away from the glass.

NOTICE!

The exterior blind is made up of numerous metal, plastic, and textile components with various material properties and manufacturing tolerances. Due to this, under certain circumstances, there may be a slight slant in the operation of the blind. However, this does not indicate a defect in the product.

For exterior blinds up to a height of 3500 mm, a height difference of up to 15 mm between the left and right sides of the blind is not considered slanted operation. For blinds with a height over 3500 mm, a height difference of up to 20 mm between the left and right sides is not considered slanted operation.
